OSAF Releases Chandler 0.6

OSAF today released, an early, but “experimentally usable” version of its open source application, Chandler. Chandler is a Personal Information Management (PIM) client application with innovative design and ambitious plans for sharing, extensibility and cross-platform support.

Two Job Openings at OSAF - Software Engineer, Applications WG and Software Quality Assurance Engineer

OSAF is looking for a software developer to participate in the design and implementation of its desktop application, codenamed Chandler. You will have ownership of the design and implementation of complete sections of the application.

OSAF is also seeking a Software Quality Assurance Engineer for the QA and Release team. This job requires working with QA, Release and Development teams to investigate, report and track defects, and expand the test framework and automated test suites.

The “43 Folders” guy has written an article: The inbox makeover for the Mac audience, explaining a David Allen approach to dealing with e-mail — organizing by action instead of topic — the same way Chandler intends to facilitate e-mail processing.

autolink and markdown “quirk”

Bear noticed the following:

Mike Taylor to everyone — There is a subtle quirk in how the auto-link and the markdown plugins are interacting: if you have a url at the *very end* of a paragraph, the link will get mangled and the presentation of the wp page gets all funky. To work around this quirk you just need to place any character after your link. A space, period, anything will do the trick.

    • Dev platform work due: Schema API framework, architecture/spec work, perf improvements.

    Progress: Continuing to screen Web developer applications. Jackrabbit contributions. Account signup page checked in. Cosmo 0.2 spec revision.

    Plans: Present Cosmo/Scooby plans to OSAF board. Gather new Web developer resumes and screen good candidates. More work on account management and passwords.
