Chandler 1.0.2

October 9th, 2008 at 11:49 am (2 months, 4 weeks ago) by Grant Baillie under Chandler Project

We are releasing a new Chandler Desktop, version 1.0.2, in order to address a couple of serious issues some users have reported. The following two bugs affect data export and reload:

  • 12335 Total data loss on chandler startup - restore not possible
  • 12353 Export to .chex fails

There is also a fix that addresses an interoperability problem that came up testing the iPhone/iPhone Touch Quick Entry widget:

  • 12381 Make eim lowercase all keys

You can download the app here, or by using the “Check for Updates” feature in Chandler.

I am trying to begin using Chandler on linux/ubuntu hardy heron. Can you make it available as a synaptic manager application or on CNR.com? When I tried to install the program i got an error message about dependency libicu36. I appreciate any suggestions.

Hi, One more issue I’ve confronted is a seemingly endless spinning wheel. I very often have to sit and wait for about a full minute before Chandler catches up with itself and allows me to type again. Any suggestions? Thanks!

  3. sep332 Says:

Try installing libicu36 from Synaptic before installing Chandler?

  4. Grant Baillie Says:

So, far as the libicu36 issues goes, sep332 is right: see http://markmail.org/message/eyvxkkanq3bsgz2j for see a link to the libicu36 deb. Alternatively, you can try the .tar.gz download instead of the .deb install.

  5. Grant Baillie Says:

Brett, I’d follow up with the chandler-users@ list about the spinning wheel.

  6. Gilad Says:

Why is Chandler so slow to start? is it such a heavy program? can you fix it in future versions? Thanks.

  7. Phil Says:

Has anyone tried to duplicate the GUI using PyQt? I’m finding the latest version for qt4 to be pretty neat and was wondering how clean your UI separation is, could someone dive in and find the WX-isms pretty easily? (I’m not saying there is anything wrong with WX, just was thinking of doing as a learning project for myself)
