    Neat. Can this be used to encrypt an existing repository? Also, is an exception raised if you try to open an encrypted database without passing in a password?

    To encrypt an existing repository, it would have to be copied to a new one by encrypting it. The encryption password is set at creation time is remains in force for the life of the repository.
