Two New Job Postings at OSAF

The Release Engineer’s responsibilities will include developing and maintaining our cross-platform, automated build environment written in Python, administering source code repository (CVS), importing and updating third-party source code into our CVS repository and integrating them into the build system, debugging build problems, managing the Chandler release process, developing installers on Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows.

The Quality Assurance Engineer’s responsibilities will include developing quality assurance procedures at OSAF; developing, maintaining and running whitebox and blackbox tests and test suites for our cross-platform Chandler product; documenting tests and providing test reports; providing input from QA point of view during the whole life cycle of feature design, implementation and maintenance; evaluating, choosing and running third-party software products for automated quality assurance.

New Job Posting - Head of Development

OSAF is expanding, come join and lead our OSAF development team as Head of Development.

The Head of Development will work with Mitch Kapor and the development team, ensuring effective day-to-day operation, product delivery and organizational development. He/She must operate in a creative manner that takes into account the Open Source nature of the product, as well as the particular culture and values of OSAF. He/She must work collaboratively as part of the team in a hands-on mode, be a leader who focuses the development effort and moves it forward, and be an effective communicator throughout the organization

The ideal candidate will have well-developed management and executive skills which encompass organizational development and establishment/achievement of technological goals. He/she will have experience recruiting/developing high caliber technical contributors and putting in place practical and effective processes. He/she will have personal maturity and a strong commitment to, and a successful track record of, building organizations and products of the highest quality. He/she will have strong communication skills so as to convey the technological goals and vision internally and, as required, externally.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of fifteen years experience managing a software development organization or organizations, as well as a BS degree in Computer Science or a related discipline. A Master’s degree is highly desirable as is prior experience with Open Source software.

OSAF website server scheduled to go offline Thursday evening

The machine hosting most of our services needs some hardware replaced. For this purpose we will be taking these services down from 7pm-midnight PST on Thursday, 12/4 (3am-8am GMT 12/5). The CVS, wiki, www, buzilla, tinderbox, bonsai, jabber, and moveable type blogs will not be available during this time — plan ahead.

The following will NOT be affected: email, mailing lists & archives, private wiki and personal web pages, and the IRC server.


OSAF Weekly Status Reports - Nov. 23-29

We hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving holiday. Although last week was a short one we still made progress on a number of items. To review our weekly progress reports generated by Morgen’s Status Manager tool look for the link to the current week on the OSAF weekly Status Manager Reports Wiki page

There are now two versions of the reports. The arrangements are: 1) items grouped by project and sorted by person; and 2) items grouped by Person.
